INTERVIEW WITH SIMONE RUGIATI AT THE PAL ZILERI SHOWROOM

Simone Ruggiati, the most famous chef on Italian TV, was the guest of honour at the Pal Zileri Autumn/ Winter 2013/14 presentation shown during Milan Fashion Week at the showroom in corso Matteotti. Simone appeared just as comfortable between suits and coat hangers as amongst pots and pans, and relaxed wearing a blue suit and tie. Everyone is accustomed to thinking of him wearing an apron in the kitchen but at “Quaderno di Stile” Simone told of his passion for fashion. In a world of blogs, social networks, and reality, having a passion for the kitchen is cool and stylish, then we need to evaluate that we do not have male models anymore but real people, a person in whom people can recognise themselves, or be friends with, or perhaps someone like the guy next door, who you can steal recipes from.

Simone, how is your relationship with the fashion industry?
I really like shopping, unfortunately I do not have much spare time, I normally take advantage of it when I am on vacations or travelling, and I check the new collections online. Travelling around the world, and not being an expert made me realise the superiority of the Made in Italy.

What do you think of the new Pal Zileri Autumn / Winter 2013-2014 collection?
I think it can be considered as a super tapas bar in men’s fashion because there is very high quality and great variety: from smarter, classic looks to the modern ones, thanks to the use of the lightweight fabrics. There are also casual garments with leather inserts for weekend wear.

Is there a garment that you liked in particular?
Doing a first lap in the showroom I was instantly attracted to “il Viaggiatore”, a new capsule collection produced with a new fabric that holds its shape and is water resistant, so perfect for those who travel a lot like me. What do you think of the accessories? This is a field which I know more about; I was born in Santa Croce sull’Arno, a small town near Pisa, where there is a great tradition of processing leather, so I can easily recognise the quality of the materials used by Pal Zileri, a quality which for example translates in the comfort of the shoes that I am wearing. I normally stand up due to my job all day, and I love to wear confortable and stylish shoes; shoes are my passion and Pal Zileri shoes are great.

Today you are wearing a blue suit by Pal zileri, if your look was a recipe, which one would it be?
Looking at the colour it could only be a swordfish, with a sandwich and potatoes.

For a special occasion would you prefer to wear a bow tie or a tie?
I prefer a beautiful tie, it is the accessory that allows you to play with the colours. Elegance should be seasoned with fun.

How do you like women dressed for a evening night out?
I love women wearing tight trousers, and of course with high heels.

The perfect suitcase for the skiing weekend

The low temperatures make you feel that winter is coming, despite the official  date being  December 21st; the Christmas atmosphere does already make you dream of weekends in the mountains skiing, spending your evenings in front of the fireplace. What would you put in your suitcase? You certainly cannot forget the Pal Zileri roll neck: warm, comfortable, stylish and practical, it is the perfect choice for those who, under the snow jacket do not want to betray their sense of style. The Moncler puffa jacket, as you all know, has mountains in its DNA: the name is an abbreviation of Monestier de Clermont, an alpine resort close to Grenoble, and Moncler dressed the alpine skiers during the second world war, the french athletes at the winter Olympics in 1968 and important climbers like Lionel Terray. For those who prefer technical clothing, then opt for the Rider jacket, produced by the Swiss trademark Mountain Force: the heat welded seams with Ultra Sonic, the compressed foam insulation,  elastic and soft lining make it a masterpiece of textile technology.Thinking about accessories you can not miss Mykita sunglasses, coated with a special finish in PVD that makes them non-oxidizing and resistant. To complete the suitcase, you need to pack the iconic Timberland boot, not only world famous but the famous brand of trekking shoes,  boasts  a history of  almost one hundred years: it was Nathan Swartz in 1918  who established the company in the United States and since then generations of men have worn these boots in their spare time.

Pal Zileri opens the new eshop

To all Pal Zileri followers: Pal Zileri opened their new ecommerce site a few months ago. A great novelty which takes into account the growing trend of buying clothing online (as well as technology), according to a trend that is expected to grow of 18% in 2012 in Italy.

The online Pal Zileri store sells in France, Italy, Germany and UK. It is made up of two macro – areas: a section devoted to formal suits and one dedicated to a casual/sporty mood.

The navigation is easy, and can be accessed directly from this link or from the Pal Zileri corporate website, where you can access the page from the homepage; if you go on the site, firstly you can choose the type of mood you prefer and then if you want to buy formalwear or casualwear.

From then the reasearch narrows down by selecting the garments you want to view according to two criteria: the first one suggests the categories available to purchase (suits, shirts, jackets, trousers, knits and accessories); the second option is to create your own look browsing the Pal Zileri look book, coming across the different combinations in the catalogue and taking inspirations from the images.

You can also find an easy and comprehensive guide to all sizes and how to take measuraments. We are looking forward to hearing your comments and suggestions.

Enjoy your shopping!

Dear old slippers

The slippers evoke the literary image of the aristocrat wearing a silk dressing gown at the end of the nineteenth century; you can literally imagine him next to his piano, in a beautiful sumptuous red velvet dining room, next to a few philopsophy books and Chinese porcelain. This dandy ambassador, to which the modern man always looks with admiration and a bit of nostalgia represent perfectly this shoe’s fashion trend. Slippers are ususally worn with tuxedos, often in velvet with embroidered initials, and are a statement for Autumn/ Winter, even for women that always want to be on trend. Usually worn with your tuxedo, slippers  are often in velvet with embroidered initials above, and represent objects of desire for Autumn/Winter 2012-13.  This trend, initially sported by men has now also been adopted by women. Jimmy Choo, the Malaysian footwear poet, has now introduced 6 new styles: in camouflage, in brown or grey with leopard prints, flowers or full of glitter; it is hard to pass unnoticed wearing them and their names really stand out, for instance “Sloane”. Entirely different the slippers shown by Charles Philip, combine traditional moroccan styles and english elegance shown in the quality materials and handmade details: rows of wool, tweed or wool twill are both smooth and with nappa. Giuseppe Zanotti prefers to enrich the silk and velvet styles with crystals: slippers completely covered by jewels, but there is also a bit of irony in the style called Super Hero featuring Spider man in  Swarovski crystals. More sober, but very unusual, the slippers made by the brand called Made in Italy Superglamourous specialising  in fit and comfort: they are made with the method “glove”, i.e. , the pieces are assembled inside out, it is then folded at the end of the process so as to ensure elasticity and comfort.  The young designer Riccardo Libertine doesn’t forget the aesthetic aspect, by merging all the charm of a classic shoe with the current trend, so next to the styles in calfskin in colors such as cream, green, purple, orange bordeaux and with nappa, appear here other embellished with golden studs, other tartan, in camouflage and in animal print, to conclude with the opulent pattern “Venice”.

The winter collection at Pal Zileri is just like in the Hitchcock’s movie

A man of style always shows great emotion in revising the old cinema that has made history, not only for the beauty and artistic value of the film, but also illustarting its aesthetic taste from the elegance of the movie stars from the past. In reference to Alfred Hitchcock’s movies, the stars of the past are mentioned and evoked by the elegance presented by Pal Zileri in the autumn/winter 2012-13. In the mid 40’s the German director produced great masterpieces and opened the chapter of American productions, making the history of american movies and working alongside icons; in 1946 Cary Grant performed as the secret agent in “Notorious – the lover lost”, he was 42 years old at the time and it was the apex of his career, and showed off his mature understated charm. Grant had already worked with Hitchcock in “International intrigue” and “To catch a thief “. The agent Devlin in the movie was shot at the back, showing off sleek and wide shoulders, very similar to the ones seen in Pal Zileri autumn/winter collection. It is also important to remember Richard Todd  with his elegantly held head dresses of Dior worn by Marlene Dietrich in “Fear in stage”. James Stewart starred in “Vertigo”, “Rear window” and then in “The man who knew too much”. The fabrics of their costumes are relived in the Pal Zileri collection with a modern key using  micro patterns and prince of wales. A chromatic research, but also the search for a man with spirit, in fact, the reference to the films of Hitchcock and also the settings of the new Pal Zileri campaign in which Joss Kloss is the main character. The settings are libraries, a villa which could be seen as the set of “international intrigue” in which they reproduced the furniture and architectural details of Frank Lloyd Wright. The characters in Hitchcock’s movies were men with a formal look,  never without a jacket and tie, but still  full of action, wearing wisely made garments to give them freedom of movement, like Pal  Zileri garments, comfortable but elegant.
